Weekending

How is it August already?? This summer is flying by so fast. August is one of my favourite months because the weather is gorgeous, my favourite season is just around the corner, and it's the month we chose to get married in! Our third anniversary is in a couple days!

Instead of buying each other presents, we always travel for our anniversaries. For our first one we went to Niagara Falls and for our second one we went to Cleveland. This year the plan was to go to Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame and see a little bit of the memorabilia from Pedro Martinez's induction. We got in the car on Saturday morning and drove down to the border. And then things went downhill. The wait at the border was a good 2-3 hours long. Longer than we have ever seen in before. It's a long weekend here in Canada so I'm guessing a lot of people had vacation plans in the States.

We were only going to stay in Cooperstown one night because we had a birthday dinner to attend on Sunday. And it appeared as though we were going to arrive at our destination at around 6 or 7. Only to leave to come home the next morning. Not really worth it. So we decided to forget our trip, turn the car around and head back home. Womp.

So here's the quick recap of what our weekend really looked like. Spoiler alert: not as fun as going to Cooperstown.

On Friday we went to watch a baseball game in the league that Mike used to play for. It's a semi-pro adult league that is fairly serious for these parts. It was a playoff game and Mike was happy to meet up with some of his old buddies. We only stayed until the 5th because the clouds were humongous and scary and it started spitting.

After getting home on Saturday from our failed roadtrip, we spent a little bit of time trying to figure out how to celebrate our anniversary. And I am super excited for what we have planned! I'll spill the beans on that in a little bit :)

We took advantage of being home on Sunday by catching up on chores. We spent most of the day outside cleaning out the garage and washing the car.

Basically working up an appetite for the dinner. It was my brother-in-law's birthday and we all went out to celebrate. The food was delicious and the company was great! And the cherry on top was a gorgeous scenic drive home.

And since today is a holiday, my weekend isn't over yet! Hurray! I'm off to enjoy another beautiful summer day off.

  2. Happy early anniversary!!! Those sound like great ways to celebrate anniversaries. Kyle and I usually just buy something we know the other person wants and eat something. We don't get too crazy. I'm sorry you had such a bummer anniversary trip :( you can make it up next weekend! Enjoy your day off!
