Go Mac Go!

Last night Mike and I caught a football game at our alma mater, McMaster University. It was a very last minute decision but we managed to score (free!) tickets from a friend of Mike's that is a player on the team. We didn't have any plans for the evening and we love going to visit our school so it was a no brainer to go and cheer the team on.

And either we are really good at cheering, or they are really good on their own because they won 55-7! Probably the latter. Definitely the latter. They played a great game and are having a great season -- they are 5-1 so far. The Marauders have been a top team in the country over the past 5 years or so. And the quarterback even broke a record during the game! He set a league record for most touchdown passes in a season. They paused the game and presented him with a trophy and I felt so proud of my school!

College athletics are no where close as big of a deal in Canada as they are in the States. Schools receive way less funding for sports and there aren't really athletic scholarships here. And to me, that's even more reason to support them. We try to catch at least one football game every year. It should be more than that but the season is really short.

Mike played on the baseball team while he was a student and I don't mean to brag or anything, but he was kind of amazing. He likes to downplay the level of competition but he very clearly dominated!
I can't wait to bring our kids with us in the future to football and baseball games!
