Today I Confess

... that since we got all this awful April snow, Mike and I have been daydreaming about what it would be like to live in the States. Obviously in the warmer parts. We are both so fed up with Canadian winters. We talked about jobs, a house, green card applications, but ultimately we can't leave our families. Has anyone here survived moving away from all friends and family?

... that I haven't seen a single flower bloom in Canada yet this "spring". Depressing.

... that it was really upsetting to see UNC lose in the basketball championship on Monday. In the absolutely last second. Mike is the biggest fan and it broke my heart knowing how bummed he was about the loss. Second place is still amazing and I think the team has a lot to be proud of!

... that now I'm looking forward for college football to start! I sound like a total sports junkie but it's just all of Mike's interests rubbing off on me. I didn't know the rules of football until a couple years ago!

... I'm still eating Easter chocolate. I started bringing some in to work to get it out of my house.

... that I love bumping into friends while we're out and about. Mike and I were grocery shopping the other day and ran into two different sets of friends in the same store! It extended our trip by almost an hour because we were standing the in aisles chatting!

... that I'm so happy that Southern Charm is back! I watched the season premiere while drinking homemade sweet tea, of course.

  1. I need the Easter candy to get out of my house. Cam has forgotten about it, but I haven't which means I keep eating it too. Ugh! I hope the warm weather gets to you soon and you see flowers and trees blooming. Allergies are in high swing here due to it. :)

  5. I keep telling you to move to FL! :) I don't live near any family and it sucks sometimes but it's not that bad. And yes to Southern Charm! This season is going to be SO good! Katherine is crazy. Like straight up insane haha! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  6. You should definitely move down south! It's warm, sunny, and everything has been in full bloom down here for nearly three weeks. Plus, I feel like you need a pick me up after that game on Sunday and living down south definitely makes a loss like that more tolerable :)

  8. I think you should move to NC! I watched the last 2 minutes of the game with my eyes closed and my hands over them. I couldn't stand it. I literally thought I was going to throw up. It was so heartbreaking, but I'm proud of our team.

  9. Wait, what is Southern Charm?? I've never heard of this and I feel like I should since I live in the South, haha!

Speaking of... It's been in the 60s/70s since February here. Which is kind of unusual, but either way even in normal winters it's not near as cold as Canada. Come live in Memphis! It's a fun city! :)

  10. I totally thought of you the other night when UNC lost. I know that you guys were bummed. And yes, I'm with you about not being able to leave your family behind. I can't imagine what I would do living away from my mom and dad. I see them at least once a week, most of the time twice, and I would be heart broken to be away from them. However, if you do ever decide to take the plunge and move down here, we will welcome you with open arms!

  11. Yes! Bring on college football! My hubby was a little sad, too. We live in Michigan, he went to University of Michigan, but UNC has always had a place in his heart.

The flowers are coming...they are. Ours here in the Mitten just recently popped out! I wish I could send you a daffodil or two.

Stay warm and happy kinda-sorta spring. :)

  12. Ahhh can't wait to see what this season of Southern Charm brings! When I heard they lost, I felt so bad for you and your hubby - I know you've said he's such a huge fan! What a heartbreak.

  14. Hope it warms up for you soon! I did the same with my Easter candy and brought it to work so the temptation is not stuck in my house. lol

  15. Since I'm Greek my Easter isn't until May...I'm really struggling not eating what I picked up for baskets. It's cold here, too. Hope it warms up for you soon!

  16. Oh yeah, Canadian winters are rough. While I was a child when we did it, my family moved from Canada to Delaware for my dad's job. All of my extended family still lives in Canada. My younger brother is the only one of us (out of my immediate family) who ended up moving back to Canada.

  17. I just finished the last of my Easter candy this week too. I am so sorry UNC lost. It was a great game though. I can't wait for college football as well. I am a total sports junkie as well!

  18. Move to California!!! It's warm and sunny about 98% of the time :)

  20. My mother did it, and she was incredibly happy (she got a great job). I missed out on family functions and events and just really being part of a large family so I really hated that, and for a while I was incredibly sad about it. But if my mom hadn't moved down here I would have never met Kyle, so that's the blessing in disguise.

What about just moving a little bit down? Like Iowa? It's not as cold as Canada and not that far away. Okay maybe not Iowa but near there.

I heard about the loss and immediately thought of you and Mike :(((

  21. Hoping you get some sunshine, warmth and flowers soon! We have entirely too much Easter candy in this house! I’ve never watched Southern Charm. I need to look that one up! There's not much better than homemade sweet tea!
